How SportPesa got 1.8/5

The rating is calculated the same way for every casino, from three independent sources:

  • Trustpilot1.4/5weight 10%

Combined: 2.8/10, shown as 1.8/5 on a fixed scale that is the same for every casino.

One source has no data for SportPesa, so the remaining weights are scaled up.

How we rate casinos: the full method

SportPesa Kenya runs its casino through a separate licensed company. The site footer names Standard Global East Africa Limited under licence GRAK/2026/PG056841, beside the sportsbook licence GRAK/2026/BK185751. The general terms, last updated 23.10.2026, are specific about payouts: a withdrawal request expires after 15 minutes, a 10% fee can hit deposits withdrawn without being played, and a dormant account pays KES 100 a month. Trustpilot gives SportPesa 1.4 out of 5 from 76 reviews, 91% of them one star. CasinoGuru and AskGamblers have no page for the Kenya site, so the track record rests on Trustpilot.

Two licences: GRAK/2026/BK185751 and GRAK/2026/PG056841

The footer of ke.sportpesa.com says the operator of the website is licensed by the Gambling Regulatory Authority under GRAK/2026/BK185751, and that the casino products are provided by Standard Global East Africa Limited, licensed under GRAK/2026/PG056841. Clause 1.1 of the general terms names the operator as a local company at The Chancery, Valley Road, Nairobi.

The casino rules sit in a separate PDF dated 08.02.2023, which names Standard Global Holdings Limited as the operator of finixcasino.info and still says the company is regulated by the Betting Lotteries and Gaming Board. Clause 14 of the terms also names Standard Global Holdings Limited, while the footer names Standard Global East Africa Limited. A player therefore sees two company names and two regulator names across the documents.

The brand has a regulatory history. In October 2020 iGamingBusiness reported that SportPesa returned to Kenya under a Milestone Games licence after halting operations when the stake excise tax rose from 10% to 20%, and that it made 453 staff redundant. The same report says a court ruled in November that a KES 60.56 billion tax bill applied only to winnings, to be collected from players.

M-Pesa in, a 15-minute window out

Money goes in by M-Pesa paybill 955100, and 5212121 is also listed. Under clause 4.3 the sending phone number must match the registered number, and mobile network charges, M-Pesa included, are deducted from the player's account (clauses 4.3 and 4.6). All transactions are in KES (clause 3.10). The terms state no minimum withdrawal and no payout time.

Clause 4.6 sets the rhythm for withdrawals. A verification code may be sent by SMS, a request cannot be processed once 15 minutes have passed since it was made, and a second withdrawal cannot start while one is pending.

Clause 4.7.1 says there is no set maximum per day, but a request cannot exceed the mobile operator's limit. Anything above it goes by bank transfer after further identity checks, which can include showing documents in person. An award above KES 200,000,000 may be paid in 4 quarterly instalments.

  • Deposit route: M-Pesa paybill 955100
  • Withdrawal request lifetime: 15 minutes (clause 4.6)
  • Fee on unplayed deposits withdrawn: 10% (clause 4.7)
  • Daily withdrawal cap: none set; mobile operator limits apply (clause 4.7.1)
  • Instalments: above KES 200,000,000, 4 quarterly payments

The 10% fee and the 48-hour window on unplayed deposits

Clause 4.7 allows a 10% processing fee when a player withdraws funds that were deposited but not used for staking, and clause 4.7.2 adds a charge for the costs of the deposit and the withdrawal. On a deposit of KES 5,000 withdrawn untouched, the 10% fee alone is KES 500, before network charges.

The casino PDF is stricter in clause 6.4. A withdrawal is allowed once the deposit has been used. If it has not been used, the request must be made within 48 hours of registering and depositing, unless the company agrees otherwise.

Clause 6.3 gives the player 30 days from the end of a month to report a balance discrepancy, and clause 8.10 promises refunds within 72 hours when an account is closed.

Verification before a payout

Clause 3.1 says the name on the account must match the registered mobile number, or the account is suspended. Clause 4.1 lets the company ask for ID from players who deposit by card, and clause 4.8 reserves the time needed to verify identity before paying.

The casino PDF goes further. Clause 9.3 lets the company withhold a payout until identity is verified and ask for a notarised copy of ID and proof of address. Clauses 4.4 and 6.1 list a birth certificate, national ID, driver's licence or passport, with source of funds or wealth on request. No verification time is published.

Dormant after 6 months, or 3 months in the casino terms

Clause 3.16 of the general terms calls an account dormant after 6 consecutive months without activity and charges a monthly administrative fee of KES 100 until it is reactivated. The casino PDF is shorter. Clause 4.13 asks the player to log in at least once in any 3 months, and an account that is not reactivated within 30 days can be suspended or closed.

Clause 3.17 lets the company close an account for any reason or for no reason. Under clause 3.3 a breach of the account rules allows it to seize funds, and clause 3.8 allows confiscation of all funds, including the first deposit, where multiple accounts were opened.

A player who asks for closure waits up to 48 hours and cannot reopen for 3 months (clause 4.9). Bonus funds cannot be withdrawn directly (clause 4.4). Clause 18.2 lets the company reclaim a bonus and charge an administration fee up to the bonus value where bets guarantee a profit.

Casino promotions: Aviator Rain, Drops and Wins to 11 November 2026

The about page says the lobby has over 70 games, while the promotions page says the Jackpot category alone has over 150 games, so the two pages disagree on size. Games are sorted by data use: under 10mb, 10 to 50mb and over 50mb. Aviator has its own menu entry, and the account menu has a Casino Transfer item for moving money between the sports and casino wallets.

The promotions page advertises Aviator Rain free bets of KES 355,000 a day for stakes between KES 1 and KES 60,000, and a Casino Slot Jackpot of over KES 11,000,000.

Drops and Wins runs from 4 March to 11 November 2026. It has 46,990 weekly prizes, worth up to 100,000x the bet or 20 free spins, and a daily tournament with 500 prizes from KES 450,000 down to KES 750, for bets of at least KES 22.50.

1.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot, 76 reviews

Trustpilot's page for sportpesa.com shows 1.4 out of 5 from 76 reviews, with 91% at one star and 5% at five stars. The profile is unclaimed and Trustpilot does not verify the reviews, so these are claims, not findings.

A review from 01.12.2022 says a win of over 4,000 USD led to a blocked account and a demand to prove ownership of the phone number. A review from 12.02.2026 says bet history disappears, and one from 13.06.2026 says a game start time on a 13-game multi-bet changed after the bet was placed.

Complaints go to care@ke.sportpesa.com, and clause 27.4 lets an unsatisfied player complain to the Betting Control and Licensing Board, the name the terms still use. Kenyan law governs (clause 17.3). The helpline is open 24 hours a day on 0755 079 079 and 0709 079 079.

Self-exclusion by email, and who this casino suits

Self-exclusion on the sports site goes by email to care@ke.sportpesa.com. The policy says the company is not liable if a player can still bet after the period starts and has not reported it.

The casino PDF offers 24 hours, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year or permanent exclusion (clause 7.2). There is a 24-hour cooling-off before reopening, and no reopening after a permanent exclusion. No deposit limit tool is described.

SportPesa suits a Kenyan player who already bets by M-Pesa and wants Aviator and slots under licence numbers that can be read in the footer. It suits less a player who deposits first and decides later, because of the 10% fee on unplayed deposits and the 48-hour window, or one who needs a fixed payout time, a stated minimum withdrawal or a track record beyond 76 Trustpilot reviews.
