Supabets is legit, with caveats. It is licensed, but its safety score or terms leave room for problems.

How Supabets got 3.2/5
The rating is calculated the same way for every casino, from three independent sources:
CasinoGuru Safety Index6.0/10weight 60%
Trustpilot2.7/5weight 10%
Combined: 5.9/10, shown as 3.2/5 on a fixed scale that is the same for every casino.
One source has no data for Supabets, so the remaining weights are scaled up.

The casino's own terms, CasinoGuru, AskGamblers and Trustpilot, checked in October 2026. If the casino's site says something else, the casino's site is right.
Supabets is a South African sportsbook with a casino section called Play Vegas, licensed by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator under licence 9-2-1-00055 and open only to players inside South Africa, in rand. Its own terms are the main evidence here, and they carry some unusual clauses: withdrawals only from winnings, a 30 day wait to take out a plain deposit, and a balance that can be forfeited 24 months after a player's death. CasinoGuru gives a Safety Index of 6.0. Outside evidence is thin, with 2 CasinoGuru complaints and 4 Trustpilot reviews averaging 2.7 out of 5. This review goes through the clauses by number so a South African player can see what happens to money deposited here.
Portapa 2 (Pty) Ltd and licence 9-2-1-00055
Clause 18 of the general terms names the operator as Portapa 2 (Pty) Ltd trading as SUPABETS, registration 2009/016148/07, at 37 Fricker Road, Illovo, Johannesburg. The page footer gives licence 9-2-1-00055 from the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, while clause 18 itself still says "Licensed by Mpumalanga Gambling Board". Betting clause 1.3 adds that financial guarantees are lodged with the Mpumalanga Gambling Board "and/or the Gambling Boards in other jurisdictions". A licence PDF dated 01.10.2025 is linked from the site.
Clause 1.4 of the betting terms says the company is licensed in South Africa and "will only accept bets from within South Africa". Clause 1.5 bans use from anywhere gambling is illegal. There is no list of restricted countries, because there is only one market.
Clause 1.2 allows rand only, with a minimum online stake of ZAR 1. CasinoGuru names Portapa 2 (Pty) Ltd as owner, and the sources read give no launch year.
Withdrawals only from winnings, and a 30 day wait for deposits
The rule that matters most sits in betting clause 1.9: withdrawal requests are not granted from deposits, only from winnings. A player who wants deposited money back, without having played it, faces a 30 day waiting period.
Supabets publishes no payments table in its terms. They give no list of deposit or withdrawal methods, no minimum withdrawal, no daily or monthly withdrawal cap and no processing time.
They do give a few payment rules. Clauses 3.5 and 3.6 say payments go only to the account holder, with no third-party deposits. Clause 1.10 warns that a transfer from a Capitec account "might only reflect within 3 days". First withdrawals of bonus money go only by EFT to the account holder's own bank account.
Clause 1.11 makes the player responsible for checking balances at every opportunity. Winning bets must be claimed within 90 days of the final settlement date (clause 1.12), or they are not paid. Suspicious bets are held pending for 90 days. Clause 3.8.4 sets a 28 day deadline to lodge a dispute after a wager is decided, after which the matter goes to the gambling board. Bets can be cancelled only by email, between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm (clause 1.7).
What FICA means at Supabets
General clause 3.3 requires proof of identity, age and residency before an account is opened, under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act. Clause 5.1 adds full names, residential address and contact details. The terms do not state the list of documents or how long checking takes. The site menu has a separate "How To Fica" page.
Betting clause 3.7 lets Supabets verify identity at any time, particularly on withdrawals and deposits, and it may demand a signed and notarised affidavit that the bets on the account are the holder's own.
The FICA section allows Supabets to decline an application if security questions are answered wrongly, or if documents are refused, belong to someone else or are fraudulent. If documents are later found fraudulent, the account can be disabled permanently and the balance withheld and removed.
Clauses 15, 19 and 20: when a balance can be kept
Clause 15.3 says the balance of a dead account holder stays the property of Supabets and is subject to forfeiture after 24 months. Clauses 15.1 and 15.4 bar any heir, partner or executor from operating or claiming the account, and clause 15.5 lets Supabets close the account and retain the funds. Clause 15.7 adds that balances are governed only by the terms and cannot be claimed by a third party.
Clause 19.2 allows Supabets to void bets, reverse winnings, suspend withdrawals and retain funds for fraud, bonus abuse or collusion. Under clauses 19.4 and 19.5, a disabled account with no dispute within 24 months and failed contact attempts can have its balance classed as unclaimed and the account closed. Clause 19.6 keeps the right to pursue civil recovery or report criminal conduct.
Clause 10.1 closes accounts for multiple accounts, malicious use or suspicious activity, and clause 9.2 says a general market average applies after an IT or human error. The terms describe no inactivity fee.
Self-exclusion is handled under clause 20. Supabets may take up to 2 days to process a request (20.1). Winnings and bonuses obtained after the request are void (20.4), and Supabets is not liable for losses in that period (20.3). Deposits made after the request may be refunded, which can take up to 30 days (20.5). Clause 20.2 treats any play after the request as a breach, and clause 20.7 makes the procedure full and binding.
The responsible gambling page lists self-imposed bans by email to support@supabets.co.za, with the NRGP line 0800 006 008. It lists no deposit limits, session timers or reality checks.
Payout caps on casino games: ZAR 500,000 a day on instant games
The betting terms set caps by game type, per individual or household. Instant Games pay at most ZAR 500,000 a day, and a breach is corrected by manual adjustment. Evolution Gaming is capped at ZAR 15 million in total profit, and Spin and Win or live roulette at ZAR 10,000 per spin. Virtual sport stops at ZAR 500,000 per player.
Kino Big 20 is capped at ZAR 15 million per day, shared among that day's winners. If 5 players each win ZAR 15 million in one day, each receives ZAR 3 million.
Clause 2.1 sets win limits for sports bets. On soccer a single bet pays at most ZAR 50,000, two legs ZAR 150,000, three legs ZAR 400,000 and four legs ZAR 600,000, rising to ZAR 30,000,000 for 50 or more legs. On other sports a single bet pays at most ZAR 10,000. Betgames is limited to ZAR 50,000 and Spin and Win to ZAR 10,000.
General clause 17.1 caps every bet at ZAR 10,000, and clause 7.2 limits payouts on disputed telephone bets to ZAR 50,000. Clause 3.1 of the betting terms lets Supabets impose its payout limits on larger wins.
Betting clause 1.14 caps the payout on any bet, but the clause contradicts itself: the figure reads R10 000 000,00 while the words say "Fifteen Million Rand". A player who lands a large win should ask which of the two figures Supabets applies. The pages do not give a casino game count or a provider list.
Bonus terms: two sets of odds for the ZAR 50 free bet
The general terms (clause 16.2, with 16.4 allowing the offer to be withdrawn at any time) say the ZAR 50 free bet must be played 5x at minimum odds of 11/10. The separate bonus terms page for the same ZAR 50 sign-up bonus says 5x at 2/1 or better, single bets only, expiring after 15 days. The two pages disagree on the minimum odds.
The deposit bonuses are sports bonuses. The first is 100% up to ZAR 2,000, with ZAR 3,000 as the maximum withdrawable, played 10x at odds of 14/10 or better. The second is 50% up to ZAR 1,000 with ZAR 2,000 withdrawable, and the third is 100% up to ZAR 2,000 with ZAR 3,000 withdrawable, both played 10x. A weekly cashback of 10% on losing sports bets is paid on Tuesdays, played 1x at 5/10, and expires after 15 days.
The bonus terms say only single bets on sports can be placed with bonus money, so none of them is played through on Play Vegas games. Free spins are given by invitation only, with winnings capped at ZAR 40,000 and expiry 6 days after credit.
A Safety Index of 6.0, 2 complaints and 4 reviews
CasinoGuru gives Supabets a Safety Index of 6.0, in the Below average band, with 2 complaints in total, and notes limited responsible gambling tools and slow withdrawals in its summary. The summary gives the count only, so no complaint amounts or dates can be stated.
Trustpilot lists an average of 2.7 out of 5 from 4 reviews, which is too few to say much. AskGamblers has no review of the site. The clearest evidence is therefore the terms themselves.
Who should use Supabets, and who should not
Supabets suits a South African sports bettor who wants Play Vegas as a side product and is comfortable with rand deposits, single bets of up to ZAR 10,000, and a verification process under FICA.
It suits poorly a player who needs published withdrawal limits and times, because the terms give none, or who wants a casino bonus, since all 3 deposit bonuses are for single sports bets with a 10x requirement at 14/10 odds. It also suits poorly anyone who expects to leave a balance to family, given the 24 month forfeiture in clause 15.3. Because Supabets accepts bets only from inside South Africa, it is closed to players elsewhere.
