BetNation is legit, with caveats. It is licensed, but its safety score or terms leave room for problems.
- High CasinoGuru Safety Index (9.8/10)
- Terms and conditions rated fair
- No verifiable gaming license
How BetNation got 4.9/5
The rating is calculated the same way for every casino, from three independent sources:
CasinoGuru Safety Index9.8/10weight 60%
Trustpilot4.3/5weight 10%
Combined: 9.6/10, shown as 4.9/5 on a fixed scale that is the same for every casino.
One source has no data for BetNation, so the remaining weights are scaled up.

The casino's own terms, CasinoGuru, AskGamblers and Trustpilot, checked in October 2026. If the casino's site says something else, the casino's site is right.
BetNation is the Dutch casino and sportsbook of Smart Gaming B.V., licensed by the Kansspelautoriteit under number 1949/01.272.482 since 13 September 2022, and it accepts only players who log in from the Netherlands. The FAQ gives unusually exact cashier numbers: deposits from 5 to 5,000 euros, withdrawals from €0.01 to 12,500 euros, automatic payouts in about 10 minutes and a €100,000 cap on winnings per 24 hours. The terms add a tax of 37.8% on the gaming result, an 18 month inactivity rule and a clause that bans public screenshots. CasinoGuru gives a Safety Index of 9.8 with 1 complaint, rejected, and Trustpilot shows 4.3 stars from 2,351 reviews.
Smart Gaming B.V., licence 1949 and a funds foundation
Article 1, paragraph 2 of the terms, last changed on 28 September 2026, names Smart Gaming B.V. as the holder of the Dutch remote gambling licence, with an office in St. Julian's, Malta, and registration OC1581 in the Maltese registry. Article 18, paragraph 1 gives the Kansspelautoriteit licence number 1949/01.272.482, issued on 13 September 2022, and a register summary shows it valid to 13 September 2027, a term of 5 years. Dutch law and Dutch courts apply (article 19, paragraph 5).
Player money is held by a separate foundation, Stichting Beheer Derdengelden Smart Gaming (KvK 87728346), so balances are kept apart from the company's assets (article 9, paragraph 5). Data sources date the brand to 2022, 4 years ago.
Only from the Netherlands, one device at a time
Article 4, paragraph 3 makes each player declare that they register and log in only from the Netherlands, and article 5, paragraph 1 repeats that play is allowed only while resident there. The list of accepted countries has 1 entry, 100% of play from the Netherlands. Sanctioned persons, minors, self-excluded persons, employees and legal entities are refused (article 4, paragraph 1). Players may use 1 account and 1 device at a time, so 2 devices at once, such as a phone and a laptop, break the rules.
5 to 5,000 euros in, €0.01 to 12,500 euros out
The FAQ sets the deposit limit between €5 and 5,000 euros per deposit and the withdrawal limit between €0.01 and a maximum of 12,500 euros per withdrawal. Automatic withdrawals take about 10 minutes, after which the time depends on the bank, and some banks do not process transfers at weekends. A €27,400 win therefore needs 3 withdrawals at the 12,500 euros ceiling (2 full, 1 of €2,400), and a player who requests all 3 on a Friday evening may wait until Monday for part of it. The FAQ also says the maximum a customer can win in 24 hours is €100,000, a cap placed in the sportsbook section of the FAQ.
Money moves only through accounts in the player's own name, and withdrawals go to the registered counter account (article 9, paragraph 2). The FAQ lists iDEAL and Visa or Mastercard credit cards as deposit options, while the home page and data sources mention only iDEAL with Wero, so the card route may have been dropped. Parking money on the account is not allowed, no interest is paid and a negative balance is not permitted (article 9, paragraph 2).
Tax is taken before payout, at the 37.8% and 1.95% rates below. Article 9, paragraph 1 states a rate of 37.8% from 1 January 2026 and a gambling levy of 1.95% of gross gaming result, deducted from winnings credited to the account.
- Deposit: 5 to 5,000 euros
- Withdrawal: €0.01 to 12,500 euros per request
- Automatic payout: about 10 minutes
- Daily win cap: €100,000 per 24 hours
Documents, payslips and a 6 month freeze
At registration the casino identifies the player through a third party, validates email and bank account, confirms age 18, checks CRUKS and sanctions lists and has the player set limits (article 4, paragraph 4). The FAQ says verification takes just a few minutes, so 0 days of waiting. Later checks can ask for ID, payslips, utility bills and bank statements (article 7, paragraph 4), and enhanced due diligence can suspend the account (article 8, paragraph 4) while the balance is withheld (article 8, paragraph 7). If an account stays blocked or suspended for 6 months (about 180 days), the casino may terminate it at once (article 8, paragraph 9). Winnings from the period of an alleged breach can be reclaimed (article 8, paragraph 6).
A gag clause and a variable RTP
Article 5, paragraph 1 forbids taking screenshots of communication with the casino and posting them on social media or forums, and it also forbids negative advertising that harms the image of BetNation. Article 11, paragraph 1 lets the casino raise or lower the return to player at its own discretion, without notice. A bet of even €0.10 cannot be cancelled once placed (article 9, paragraph 3). Claims for damages must be brought within 6 months, roughly 183 days (article 17, paragraph 3), which the terms link to a personal data retention period of at most 36 months.
Inactivity: 18 months, then the balance goes home
An account is inactive after 18 months (about 548 days) without a login (article 12, paragraph 1). The casino sends notice a month before, then returns any balance to the counter account and closes the account (article 12, paragraph 2). No fee is charged, so the clause protects a €64 balance instead of eroding it.
The welcome offer in one paragraph
Site data lists a stortingsbonus of 10% of the first deposit up to €100, plus free spins promotions. Free spins are valid for a week and their winnings must be wagered at least 1x, and live credit works the same way. A 10% match on a €73 deposit is €7.30, which makes the offer small. The bonus page on this site covers the wagering and caps.
Support at any hour, complaints in 3 days
Support runs round the clock in Dutch and English by phone on 0297 799 502, email and chat (article 10, paragraph 1). Complaints go to klachten@betnation.nl and are taken up within three days of receipt, with an aim of 8 weeks for an answer (articles 10, paragraph 3, and 10, paragraph 4). A repeated complaint is not reopened, and the player is told within 168 hours.
1 complaint, 9.8 and 2,351 reviews
CasinoGuru records a Safety Index of 9.8, tier Very high, finds 0 issues in the terms and lists 1 complaint, rejected. Trustpilot shows 4.3 stars from 2,351 reviews. AskGamblers has no review. 0 game counts are stated on the casino's public pages.
Limits and the 1, 7 or 30 day block
Players set limits for deposits, time on the account and maximum balance. Lowering a limit is instant and raising takes at least a week (168 hours) (article 14, paragraph 3). A temporary block can be set for 1, 7 or 30 days, and CRUKS gives a nationwide exclusion.
Who this suits and who should avoid it
BetNation suits a Dutch player who wants casino and sports on 1 account, banks with iDEAL and values 10 minute automatic payouts up to 12,500 euros a request. It does not suit anyone who may want to post a screenshot of a dispute, a player who expects a fixed RTP, or anyone outside the Netherlands.
