How Codere got 2.3/5

The rating is calculated the same way for every casino, from three independent sources:

  • Trustpilot1.9/5weight 10%

Combined: 3.8/10, shown as 2.3/5 on a fixed scale that is the same for every casino.

One source has no data for Codere, so the remaining weights are scaled up.

How we rate casinos: the full method

Codere is a Spain-only casino and sportsbook run by Codere Online S.A.U. under nine DGOJ licence references, among them 223-11/GO/A86346038/SGR for casino games. Its contract is specific about money: deposits are capped at €150 until documents are verified, with no withdrawals at all until then, the legal deposit ceiling is €600 a day, payouts run from €20 to €10,000 by PayPal and up to €100,000 by bank transfer, and a €2 monthly fee starts after 2 years of inactivity. Trustpilot shows 1.9 stars from 390 reviews, and the contract and the help pages disagree on how fast complaints are answered: 15 business days or 30 days.

Codere Online S.A.U. and nine DGOJ licence references

Codere Online S.A.U. (tax id A-86346038) runs codere.es under the brand Codere Apuestas, with its registered office at Calle Pedro Navarro 9 in Melilla. The contract lists nine licence references from the DGOJ, the Spanish gambling regulator: general licences for betting (225-11/GA/A86346038/SGR), other games (223-11/GO/A86346038/SGR) and contests (224-11/GC/A86346038/SGR), plus singular licences for sports betting (ADC/2014/001), horse betting (AHC/2014/002), other counterparty bets (AOC/2014/002), blackjack (BLJ/2016/007), slots (MAZ/2015/032) and roulette (RLT/2016/009). The contract PDF prints the first one as 22511/GNA86346038/SGR, while the site footer shows 225-11/GA/A86346038/SGR.

This review covers the Spanish site only. The Codere group also runs separate sites in Latin America under other licences, and none of their figures apply here. That matters for outside scores: CasinoGuru's Safety Index of 9.3 for Codere belongs to the Argentine site, so it says nothing about codere.es, and there is no CasinoGuru page for Spain. The contract bars players under 18 (clause 2.6.1) and anyone on the RGIAJ self-exclusion register (2.6.2), and clause 14.3 refuses residents of states where online gambling is unlawful. It lists no restricted countries and prints neither a version number nor a date.

€600 a day in, €10,000 or €100,000 out

Minimum deposits are €10 for cards, Bizum, Paysafecard, PayPal, Neteller, Rapid Transfer and MuchBetter, €1 for Transferencia RAPIDA, and none for a plain bank transfer, which is credited in 1 to 3 business days. The help page says no deposit method carries a fee, although MuchBetter's own fees fall on the player. Spanish law caps deposits at €600 a day, €1,500 a week and €3,000 a month (clause 6.2). Raising a cap needs the self-assessment test and no risky behaviour in the previous 3 months (6.4), and the new cap starts within 3 days (6.5).

Withdrawals differ a lot by method. Transferencia RAPIDA and MuchBetter run from €20 to €10,000, and PayPal also runs from €20 to €10,000 with the money arriving within 8 hours of the request. PayPal pays out only to the account used to deposit. A bank transfer runs from €1 to €100,000 and takes 2 to 3 business days after the security review; the first one needs a bank receipt showing name and account number. Neteller and Skrill are deposit-only (clause 7.6.4). A €25,000 win paid by Transferencia RAPIDA would need 3 requests (€10,000, €10,000 and €5,000), while one bank transfer covers it. The FAQ page says a bank transfer has no maximum and the payments page says €100,000, so the lower figure is the one to plan around.

  • Deposit caps by law: €600 a day, €1,500 a week, €3,000 a month
  • PayPal, Transferencia RAPIDA, MuchBetter: €20 to €10,000 per withdrawal
  • Bank transfer: €1 to €100,000, 2 to 3 business days
  • Cash at a Codere shop: up to €1,000, collected within 72 hours (clause 7.6.5)

€150 before documents, and no withdrawal until they clear

Identity is checked first through the DGOJ identity service, using a DNI or NIE (clauses 3.1 and 3.2). A player who passes that check but has not yet sent documents can deposit up to a joint €150 and play, but cannot withdraw any amount (3.4). The welcome-bonus help page gives a different ceiling, €200 before verification, so two Codere documents disagree by €50. Codere has up to 1 month from the registration request to complete the document check (3.7).

Before paying out, Codere also verifies the payment method (7.6). A bank transfer needs a receipt with IBAN, name, two surnames and ID number, and PayPal needs proof of ownership with the player's name and two surnames. The first withdrawal requires the player to contact customer service beforehand (7.5), and at least one bet must have been placed (7.16). Extra documents such as invoices or bank statements can be requested at any time (7.10), and the account can be suspended while the source of funds is checked (7.2). Altered documents lead to a blocked account and possibly refused winnings (3.8).

A €2 monthly fee after 2 years, and clauses that void winnings

Clause 9.4 suspends an account that stays inactive for more than 2 years and, from the 2-year mark, charges €2 a month until the account is reactivated or the balance reaches €0. A €20 balance would last 10 months, and the fee adds up to €24 a year, €48 over 2 years of charges and €72 over 3 (as long as a balance remains). Codere gives 5 days' notice by email before the first charge, and the fee is not applied to self-excluded players or those on the RGIAJ. Accounts are closed 4 years after suspension. A player who closes an account voluntarily cannot reopen it and may register again only after 90 days (9.2.4). If Codere ends the contract with 10 days' notice (9.3.1), the player cannot register again (9.3.6).

Clause 8 lists prohibited conduct: bots and AI tools, multiple or third-party accounts, hiding location, exploiting system errors and manipulating bonuses. If proven, Codere can void bets and winnings, withhold payments in whole or in part and close the account (8.4); if the suspicion is not confirmed, the withdrawal is paid without penalty (8.3). On odds errors, clause 10.4 presumes an error when Codere's odds are more than 100% above the median of at least 3 other DGOJ-licensed operators, and 10.7 says the option more favourable to the player prevails. Bets that cover every outcome do not count toward a bonus (12.4).

100% up to €200 with a €20 minimum deposit

The help page offers 100% of the first deposit up to €200, with a €20 minimum deposit, and the player must be registered before depositing. No other deposit promotion is available until the month after the welcome bonus is wagered or has expired. The page prints neither a wagering requirement nor a validity period and points to the terms page. Recurring offers include a €20 bonus on the first deposit of the month, €25 free after €100 played on table games and 20 free spins on Fire Blaze games for a €20 deposit. The bonus page has the details.

Slots under a 3-second round and a 60-minute message

The menu covers slots, casino, live casino, live roulette, blackjack and jackpots, and one casino lobby link is labelled Playtech. The pages read state no game count and no provider count. The slot rules come from Spanish regulation (clause 5.4.1): every session starts with the player setting a maximum spend and a maximum time, a slot round lasts at least 3 seconds, autoplay stops after 100 rounds, and a mandatory message with time played, amounts wagered and net losses appears at least once every 60 minutes. A full autoplay run of 100 rounds therefore takes at least 300 seconds, or 5 minutes. On the sports side of the same account, the FAQ sets the minimum single bet at 1 euro and the minimum combined bet at 0.20 euros.

15 business days or 30 days: how complaints are answered

Complaints must be filed within 3 months of the incident (clause 13.8). The contract promises an answer within 15 business days at most (13.9), while the complaints help page promises a decision within 30 days, and the two figures are not the same. A player who is unhappy can complain to the DGOJ (13.10) or use an alternative dispute body from the EU list (13.5). Support is staffed 24 hours a day on 91 343 29 50, by email at apuestas@codere.com and by live chat with a human agent (13.1).

The outside record is thin. Trustpilot shows 1.9 stars from 390 reviews for codere.es. CasinoGuru has no Spanish review, and the sources contain no individual complaint with an amount or date, so there is no documented case showing how the 15 business days or the 30 days work out in practice.

Who Codere suits, and who should look elsewhere

Codere suits Spanish residents with a DNI or NIE who want casino, sports and a shop cash-out under one account, and players who prefer to be paid to a bank account: €1 minimum, up to €100,000, 2 to 3 business days. It also suits anyone who wants Spanish session rules and a 24-hour phone line.

It is a poor fit for a player who wants a Neteller or Skrill payout, because both are deposit-only. A winner of more than €10,000 in one go should expect several PayPal or Transferencia RAPIDA requests, or use the bank transfer. Anyone who may leave the account untouched for 2 years faces the €2 monthly fee, and anyone who needs to deposit more than €150 before documents are verified will be stopped by clause 3.4. Players outside Spain are not served, and a Trustpilot score of 1.9 stars from 390 reviews is a reason to read the contract before the first deposit.
