How bwin got 4.0/5
The rating is calculated the same way for every casino, from three independent sources:
CasinoGuru Safety Index8.5/10weight 60%
Trustpilot1.2/5weight 10%
Combined: 7.6/10, shown as 4.0/5 on a fixed scale that is the same for every casino.
One source has no data for bwin, so the remaining weights are scaled up.

The casino's own terms, CasinoGuru, AskGamblers and Trustpilot, checked in October 2026. If the casino's site says something else, the casino's site is right.
bwin is an Entain brand with a Malta licence (MGA/CRP/688/2019, issued 1 October 2020) and a Gibraltar licence behind its international terms. The numbers in those terms are mostly about what can go wrong with a balance: payments take up to 2 business days of internal processing before the bank leg, an account outside the UK counts as inactive after 365 days, and a player who breaks the rules can see winnings forfeited. CasinoGuru gives a Safety Index of 8.5, High, with 94 complaints on file, while Trustpilot shows 1.2 stars from 2,186 reviews. This review sets those two pictures side by side.
ElectraWorks Europe, licence MGA/CRP/688/2019
The footer of bwin.com names ElectraWorks Europe Limited of Gzira, Malta, company number C92636, as the operator of the site. The Malta Gaming Authority licence MGA/CRP/688/2019 was issued on 1 October 2020 in the name of the reporting entity bwin Holdings Malta Limited, company number C59121. UK residents deal with LC International Limited (Gibraltar, company 46808), which holds UK Gambling Commission licence 54743. Everyone else deals with ElectraWorks Limited (company 94014), licensed by the Government of Gibraltar and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner.
The international version of the terms is listed on the help site as amended on 2 August 2024. Separate versions exist for the EU and EEA (31 July 2023), Bulgaria (13 January 2026), Canada (25 May 2026), the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The terms are governed by Gibraltar law, and changes take effect 30 days after bwin emails the notice. CasinoGuru lists the owner as Entain Operations Limited and dates the brand to 2001, while a third-party listing says 1997.
The terms make the player confirm that he or she is not accessing the service from the United States, Poland or any territory where online gaming is illegal.
Up to 2 business days before the money even leaves
Clause 10.4 of the terms says payments are made as soon as reasonably possible, subject to up to 2 business days of internal processing, and that a security review can delay them further. For a progressive jackpot, bwin first checks the win with the game supplier and aims to make the amount available for withdrawal within 24 hours once the other checks are complete. A third-party listing puts bank transfers at 3 to 5 days, so a bank withdrawal can take up to 7 days in total (2 business days plus 3 to 5 days) before any security review. The same listing gives a monthly withdrawal limit of €20,000, a figure bwin's terms do not state. On that basis a €50,000 win would take 3 months to pay out.
Bank transfers in euros inside the SEPA region carry normal domestic fees on both sides (clause 10.5). Changing the account currency more than once needs approval, and a deposit or withdrawal in another currency is converted at bwin's rate with what the terms call a small conversion fee (clauses 3.3 and 3.4).
One rule decides where the money goes back: bwin runs what it calls a Closed Loop System. It can send a withdrawal to the method used for the deposit, up to the total deposited, before other options open, and can split the payment across several methods. The choice of method is bwin's alone (clause 10.3). A player who deposits €300 by card and wins €1,000 would see the first €300 returned to the card.
- Internal processing: up to 2 business days (clause 10.4)
- Progressive jackpot: availability aimed within 24 hours after checks (clause 10.2)
- Monthly withdrawal limit: €20,000 according to a third-party listing, not stated in the terms
- Currencies in the listing: EUR, USD, GBP, SEK, NOK, DKK
21 deposit methods, and a ban on credit cards in the UK
The listing data counts 21 deposit methods: Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, AMEX, PayPal, Skrill, Skrill 1-Tap, Neteller, Paysafecard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Trustly, Sofort, Interac, instaDebit, AstroPay, Luxon Pay, Aircash Pay, eps, Dankort and bank transfer. CasinoGuru counts 48 payment methods across all markets. bwin does not publish minimum deposit or minimum withdrawal amounts in the terms; clause 3.5 only says that limits depend on the player's history, the method and other factors.
Players in the UK and the Republic of Ireland cannot deposit with credit cards, directly or through an e-wallet (clause 3.5). The help site dates the UK rule to 14 April 2020 and adds that cards issued by money-service businesses such as Transferwise and N26 stopped working for UK deposits on 15 July 2020. UK accounts are also limited to 3 payment methods in use in any rolling 30 days. That cap does not apply in Ireland.
Verification: before the first deposit in the UK, on request elsewhere
UK players must pass identity verification before they can deposit and play (clause 2.2): an identity document and proof of address, with more documents possible. Outside the UK the rule is looser and harsher at once. bwin may ask for documents at any time and may void transactions until the identity is checked. If it cannot verify the player within a period it sets at its own discretion, it may suspend or close the account and withhold the balance.
A separate security review (clause 16) lets bwin check identity, age, registration data and financial transactions at any time, using third-party databases and credit reports. Payments can be held while it runs. The help site does not list the documents or a processing time for the international version, so a player has no number to count against.
365 days of silence: how the inactivity clause works
Outside the UK, an account is inactive after 365 days without a login combined with a cash bet, a cash tournament entry, a raked poker hand or a deposit. From the day after that grace period bwin may deduct an inactive account fee and repeat it every 30 days. The amount sits in an Inactive Account Fee Schedule that the terms refer to but do not show. After 18 consecutive months of inactivity bwin may withhold the remaining balance and close the account, though the player can reclaim the money by contacting the company.
UK accounts follow a different rule. An account is inactive after 13 consecutive months without a cash wager, and if bwin cannot cash the balance out to the last payment method, it charges £3.00 a month starting 30 days after that point. A balance of £30 would last 10 months of fees. The fee can be refunded on request. Closing the account temporarily with the Facility Closure function does not stop the fee (clause 18.2), while a time-out or self-exclusion does (clause 20.1).
When bwin can keep the balance
Clause 17 allows bwin to withhold a balance, suspend an account and take back payouts, bonuses and winnings for a material breach of the terms, fraud, collusion, charge-backs, or bankruptcy. It also applies if bwin learns the player is suspected of fraud at another gaming site. Where the company ends the contract for those reasons, payouts, bonuses and winnings are non-refundable and treated as forfeited (clause 18.3). The clause covers other accounts the player holds within the Entain group, so one problem can freeze several.
Two further clauses matter in a dispute. Complaint discussions are confidential, and a player who tells the media or social media about one can have the account frozen or closed (clause 22.4). Liability is capped, in any 12 months, at what the player has paid in bets, rakes and fees in that period (clause 21.5). On the betting side, the single-bet winning cap is €10,000 (£7,000, USD 12,000) and the 24-hour cap is €250,000, which is 25 maximum single wins. For sports bonuses the terms require 5x the bonus and 5x the deposit at odds of at least 1.7 before withdrawal. The casino bonus rules sit in a separate promotions document.
1,000s of games, 47 providers, one account for poker and sport
The casino help page promises thousands of games from several providers: slots, instant wins, blackjack, roulette and jackpots. CasinoGuru counts 47 game providers. The same account also opens the sportsbook, poker and live casino. bwin does not state a game count in its terms.
Support is described in the terms as a 24/7 customer service team, and stage three of the complaints procedure goes to complaints@bwin.com. The site is offered in 8 languages: English, German, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, French, Polish, Hungarian and Bulgarian.
94 complaints, a 1.2 Trustpilot score and a 24-hour limit lock
CasinoGuru gives bwin a Safety Index of 8.5, High, and lists 94 complaints in total. AskGamblers has no review of the casino. Trustpilot shows 1.2 stars from 2,186 reviews. The sources do not detail individual cases.
On the safety side, bwin offers daily, weekly and monthly deposit limits. Lowering a limit takes effect at once, while raising or removing one waits 24 hours (clause 20.5). UK players must confirm the new limit after that delay. There is also a time-out, and indefinite self-exclusion that covers all Entain platforms. If a self-excluded player opens another group account, bwin says it will act within 48 hours. Loss limits and session limits are not named in the terms or on the responsible gambling page, last updated May 2025.
Complaints run in three stages: customer service, a manager, and then the complaints team. UK players get an acknowledgement within 24 hours and a final answer within 8 weeks, and can then go to IBAS within 12 months. Players outside the UK can raise the matter with the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner.
Who bwin suits and who should look elsewhere
bwin fits a player who wants one account for casino, sport and poker under an MGA and Gibraltar licence, who deposits in EUR, GBP or a Nordic currency, and who will play often enough that the 365-day inactivity clause never applies.
It suits a smaller player less well if a cash-out must be fast. Up to 2 business days of internal processing followed by a bank leg of 3 to 5 days means a first withdrawal can take a week, and the Closed Loop rule decides the destination. A player in the United States or Poland is excluded by the terms, and a player who wants a published list of withdrawal limits will not find one.
