Giropay is listed at 21 of the 329 casinos we track (6%), even though the service has been discontinued. 19 of the 21 casinos (90%) list Giropay for deposits only, 8 are partners (8% of 105) and 13 are review-only casinos (6% of 224). Treat every one of those listings as possibly stale and open the cashier before you plan around it.
What is known about the shutdown
Giropay was a German online bank transfer, and the merchant-payments provider Solidgate published a shutdown notice for it. This page cites no fee, limit or country rule from the former operator.
Solidgate wrote that Giropay had approximately 45 million users in Germany and that from 1 July 2024 acquirers could no longer migrate to the new API. It suggested Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal as alternatives.
19 of 21 casinos list it as deposit-only
In our data, 2 of the 21 casinos that accept Giropay also pay withdrawals to it. The fastest crypto and e-wallet payouts come from 22Casino (15 minutes).
Of the 8 partners, 7 are deposit-only: BitStarz, Ice Casino, GGBET, GunsBet, Librabet, 22Casino and Casinia. Buran is the only partner that lists a Giropay withdrawal. Of the 13 review-only casinos, 12 are deposit-only, including LeoVegas, Grand Mondial, Golden Tiger, Captain Cooks Casino, Wild Tokyo, Zoome, Jackbit, Betano, Royal Vegas, NetBet, Casumo and Joycasino. Spin Casino lists a withdrawal.
The listings are probably inherited from older cashier lists. The group is old: Royal Vegas was founded in 2000, Golden Tiger and NetBet in 2001, and the average founding year is 2014. Spin Casino and Royal Vegas list both Germany and Austria among their restricted countries.
What the casinos list instead: Trustly at 17, Sofort at 15
The 21 casinos have plenty of other routes. Visa, Mastercard, Skrill and Neteller are listed at all 21, Paysafecard at 20 (95%), Payz at 19 (90%), Trustly at 17 (81%), and Rapid Transfer, Interac and Sofort at 15 (71%). The average casino lists 27.1 deposit methods and 17.5 withdrawal methods, so the gap left by Giropay is easy to fill.
EUR is a stated currency at 20 of the 21 (95%), CAD at 20 and USD at 19, and CHF at 6 (29%). The EUR share fits a German-market method, but the CAD share shows that these are international casinos, not German-licensed ones.
