According to the Senate summary dated 29 September 2026, Medida Provisoria 1.394 was published in the official gazette on 25 September 2026. It prohibits fixed-odds betting and virtual online games in Brazil, including when an operator based abroad offers them to people in Brazil. Existing licences end 30 days later, on 25 October 2026, and banks and payment institutions may not process, settle or enable bet payments.
A law-firm summary of the measure found no penalty aimed at the player, while sanctions fall on operators, advertisers and facilitators.
